who would name their kid Lachlan?
![]()
The
origin of its name comes from its earliest attacks, where goats were found with their
blood drained and with two peculiar puncture marks on their necks. There have also been
reports alleging that particular organs were missing from some of the animal's bodies,
without any visible way for the organs to have been removed. Sightings have increased as
the time goes by. Puerto Rican authorities maintain that the deaths are due to
attacks from groups of stray dogs or other exotic animals, such as the panther, illegally
introduced in the island's territory. The director of Puerto Rico's Department of
Agriculture Veterinary Services Division, Hector Garcia, has stated that there is nothing
unusual or extraordinary about the cases they've observed. One veterinarian said "it
could be a human being who belongs to a religious sect, even another animal. It could also
be someone who wants to make fun out of the Puerto Rican people." |
| Theories have placed
the Chupacabra as a resident of another galaxy, or a half-man, half-beast vampire who
roams the countryside draining farm animals. Some say the Chupacabra hops like a kangaroo
and leaves a sulfur-like stench. Still others describe the Chupacabra as a panther-like
creature with red eyes and a long snake-like tongue. Like the descriptions of El Chupacabras' appearance,
people's ideas of its origin widely vary. Many say it's a new species, or a relative to
the panther. More eccentric scholars say it is a dinosaur or an alien. Another theory is
that there is a portal to another dimension that stretches from Puerto Rico across to
South America.Another theory is that an alien spacecraft contained El Chupacabras' as pets
or for study, and they somehow escaped during an accident, or a crash. Such creatures are known as Anomalous
Biological Entities [ABEs] in UFO circles. |
| Those who think the
chupacabra is an ABE also believe that there is a massive government and mass media conspiracy to keep the truth hidden from the people, probably to prevent panic. This view is maintained despite the fact that the President of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives Agricultural Commission, Mr. Juan E.[Kike] Lopez, has introduced a resolution asking for an official investigation to clarify the situation. And Inside Edition sent a crew to Puerto Rico to investigate the ABE story. They allegedly ridiculed the Mayor of Canavanas, a witness to the chupacabra, and basically made fun of the whole idea. In any case, there have been numerous published stories and reports regarding the chupacabra. |
| A mix of vampire and marauding, furry lizard, the Chupacabra has become one of the most common beasts studied under the general heading of cryptozoology, the study of animals that may or may not be real. No one has ever caught a Chupacabra, though plenty of eyewitnesses claim to have seen one. Descriptions vary. Eyewitness accounts during a rash of alleged attacks in 1995, many in Puerto Rico, described the animal as having a "reptilian body, oval head, bulging red eyes, fanged teeth and long, darting tongue," according to a report at the time in the daily San Juan Star. |
